food for thought

As you read this blog, it’s probably important for you to know that I’m an ova-lacta vegetarian. That means I don’t eat any meat (and yes, I consider fish a meat — I’m a vegetarian, not a pescatarian), but I do eat eggs and dairy. If I didn’t, I’d be a vegan…a lifestyle that demands a far stronger will than my own. I do my best to buy organic, buy local, and to support food establishments that do the same. It’s not always easy, but those places are out there and I think they’re worth supporting. That, and the food tends to be delicious! If you’re interested in buying local, check out Edible Communities publications — if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll find links to the Edible Communities magazine for your own community or region. Here are the four magazines from cities/regions I’ve lived in:

Edible Columbus (Columbus, obviously)

Edible Sacramento (Woodland)

Edible Los Angeles (Moorpark)

Edible Santa Barbara (SB and Buellton)
